Styles and Encépagement

  • Rosé and Rouge
    • Principal Varieties: Min. 70% combined Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Tannat (15-40%)
    • Complementary Varieties: Min. 10% combined Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot (Malbec) and Fer-Servadou
    • Accessory Variety: Max. 10% Abouriou

Assemblage

  • Min. 50% principal varieties.
  • No variety may exceed 70% of the blend.
  • Rosé wines must contain at least 2 varieties, and rouge wines must contain at least 3 varieties.

Minimum Potential Alcohol

  • Rosé: 10.5%
  • Rouge: 11%

Minimum Must Weight

  • Rosé: 171 g/l
  • Rouge: 189 g/l

Maximum Residual Sugar

  • Rosé: 4 g/l
  • Rouge: 3 g/l (4 g/l if potential alcohol is greater than 14%)

Élevage

  • Rouge wines may not be released until April 30 of the year following the harvest

Minimum Planting Density

  • 4,000 vines per hectare

Maximum Yield (Rendement de Base)

  • Rosé: 60 hl/ha
  • Rouge: 55 hl/ha
