Summary
Jean-Marc Brocard started this estate in 1973, with 1 ha that he inherited from his father-in-law. He set up his winery in the village of Préhy in between the village of Chablis and the village of St-Brix-de-le-Vineux. The estate has now grown to become quite large, and Jean-Marc shares responsibilities with his son Julian and daughter Celine. They make a large number of wines, from Petit Chablis to Grand Cru Chablis to Irancy, with more than 30 wines made each year. They do not own any Grand Cru land but have contracts with a number of growers.
Style & Vinification Techniques
The estate has begun using biodynamic principles in the vineyards that they own. They use mainly machine harvesting for their grapes. The wines are fermented in stainless steel cuves, and all go through malolactic fermentation. From there it is a mixed-bag for what happens to the wines – some will age on their lees in stainless steel, some will age in concrete eggs, and parts of some of the wines will age in used French oak.
