Summary

Currently in their fifth generation, Cappellano is run by Augusto Cappellano. Augusto’s late father, Teobaldo, was highly regarded amongst his peers in the Langhe, and was considered one of the last great traditionalists. In the beginning of the 20th Century, Cappellano had a reputation for producing top quality Barolo Chinato, which they still make today. The vineyards are organic, and the winemaking is extremely traditional, with long fermentations and aging in large oak botti. Their vineyards in Serralunga fall within the Gabutti cru.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Winemaking is classic and traditional. Wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts for 2-3 weeks followed by ageing in large oak botti for at least three years.
