Summary

With the death of Luigi Pira, the Pira estate was sold to the Boschis family in 1981. Since 1990, it has been run by Chiara Boschis. She has made it her mission to craft Barolo with approachability and elegance. She is known for her short fermentations and tannin management, creating Barolos that are soft and lush. Production is very small, and they produce exclusively from the 2.5 ha of owned vineyards in the heart of Barolo.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Currently, the estate is producing wines very modern in style. They are fermented quickly, with short macerations, in temperature controlled stainless steel, followed by ageing in new French barriques.
