Summary
G.B. Burlotto combines the traditions of the past with modern influences in their wine making practices. They are celebrated historically for being the first to sell Barolo in bottle, rather than cask or demi john. The winery and majority of the vineyards are located in Verduno, and the estate has done much to bring recognition to not only Verduno, but also the Pelaverga grape variety.
Style & Vinification Techniques
They use a combination of modern and traditional techniques. Wines are fermented with temperature control in large, French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in stainless steel, and the wines are aged in a combination of French and Slavonian Oak, ranging from 30-50 hl. The Barolo Monvigliero has an unparalleled 60 day maceration period and is known for its aromatics.
