Summary

Querciabella was founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni and is now run by his son, Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni. It is a traditional estate with holdings in both Chianti and Maremma. Querciabella has been organic since 1988 and converted to 100% biodynamic in 2000. In 2010, Castiglioni incorporated a farming program known as cruelty-free biodynamics, which prohibits the use of animal-derived products. The winery focuses on old vineyards and dry farming to achieve ripeness and concentration.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Viticulture is focused on old vines and dry farming. In addition to its organic and biodynamic commitment, the estate is invested in biodiversity preservation efforts. In the cellar, Quercibella strives for minimal intervention. Peristaltic pumps are used for gentle handling.
