Summary

Poggio al Tesoro is a project from Allegrini, a winery with six generations of winemaking in the Veneto. First planted in 2003, Poggio al Tesoro is a much newer endeavor. The project is the brainchild of the late Walter Allegrini. When purchasing land in the area, Walter settled on various sites, some close to the coast and some further away, to allow diversity in grape varietals and expressions. Now run by Marilisa Allegrini, Poggio al Tesoro farms international red varieties plus Vermentino and Viognier.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Grapes are harvested by hand, entirely destemmed, and sorted upon arrival to the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks before wines are transferred to barrel for malolactic fermentation. The white and rosé wines are aged in stainless steel and released after five months in tank plus one month in bottle. All barrels are 225 liters.
