Summary

Tenuta Argentiera was originally part of the village of Donoratico, once owned by the Serristori family of Florence, a successful silver mining family. The estate is nestled between old silver mines and canals. Argentiera translates as “silversmiths,” referencing these origins. The 500-hectare estate is in what many call the Alta Maremma, the part of the Bolgheri DOC that is closest to the sea and highest in altitude. Tenuta Argentiera is now owned by Stanislaus Turnauer and the Fratini brothers, Corrado and Marcello.

Style & Vinification Techniques

The modern, gravity-flow winery boasts thick walls that regulate temperature. After hand-selection, grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel, typically seeing two weeks of skin maceration. Top wines see a large portion of new oak, and used oak is never more than a year or two old.
