Summary

The house was founded in 1797 by Garret Gould, an Irishman who left home to establish a trading company in Lisbon and Porto. The house was family owned and operated until its purchase by the Symington family in 1970. All fruit is sourced from outside vineyards, primarily from the Covas area near Pinhão. Nonetheless, the company has maintained great consistency and high quality over the years. Production is still relatively small in comparison to the other houses in Symington’s portfolio and the wines rarely make it stateside, but they are considered great value for Port.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Gould Campbell’s Port is typically fuller-bodied, fruit-forward, and richer in style. Modern temperature-controlled fermentation tanks are used, but the house still relies on the traditional method of foot treading in lagares for many of the wines.
