Summary
Rozés is the only Port house of French origin, founded by Ostende Rozés, a Bordeaux wine trader of Portuguese ancestry. The brand expanded and flourished under his son, Edmond, who introduced the low glass bottle still used today. The house was purchased by the Vranken Pommery Group in 2002. The wines today are made at the estate’s Quinta de Monsul, but the quinta itself provides only a small quantity to the total output.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Fruit is hand-harvested and delivered to the Monsul Quinta, where it is crushed by foot for higher end Vintage Ports and by machine for all other wines.
