Summary

The Alvaro Domecq soleras date back to 1800, when Antonio María de Aranda started the bodega in Jerez. His son Fermín Aranda inherited the business and then passed the bodega on to his daughter Pilar Aranda in 1946. Pilar became a very successful almacenista, supplying large quantities of wine to Gonzalez Byass for blending and Emilio Lustau’s Almacenista range.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Alvaro Domecq is now establishing it’s own name after their long history of selling to larger bodegas. The 1730 range refers to the foundation of the Bodegas Pedro Domecq and made in very limited quantities. Each wine in the collection is over 30 years of age but did not qualify as VORS until after 2005.
