Summary

Brewer-Clifton is a partnership between two established winemakers, Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Production began with 240 cases in 1996. Their focus is single-vineyard expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. In 2007 the winery deviated from their single-vineyard wines with a Sta. Rita Hills AVA blend from various vineyards. A 70% stake in the winery was sold to Ken Fredrickson MS of Tenzing Wine & Spirits in 2010.  In addition to continued management of Brewer-Clifton, Greg and Steve each make wine for their separate labels, Melville and Palmina respectively.

Style & Vinification Techniques

All Brewer-Clifton vineyard sources are located within eight miles of the winery. Five vineyards are entirely allocated to Brewer-Clifton (Gnesa, Machado, 3-D, Hapgood, Acin), and the Brewer-Clifton team manages all vineyard work. Sustainable and organic methods are employed whenever possible. Grapes are harvested very ripe to achieve full flavor, wines correspondingly tend to be fuller-bodied and higher in alcohol.
