Summary

Dedicated Old World wine drinkers and locavores Jeff Nelson and Nikki Pallesen decided to make wine in the style they love. They were drawn to the soils and climate of the Sta. Rita Hills and made their first vintage of Chardonnay in 2009. Liquid Farm aims to produce a low-alcohol, mineral-driven style of Chardonnay from some of the best vineyards in the Central Coast. Wine production took place at Dragonette Cellars until 2013. Production currently takes place at the Buelton Wine Center Co-Op with James Sparks, former Assistant Winemaker at Dragonette Cellars, as lead winemaker.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Grapes are harvested at low Brix levels to preserve natural acidity. Natural yeasts are employed for both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and wines are raised in a minimum of new French oak and stirring of the lees.
