Summary

The Gassman family had been growing and making wine since 1676, but the present-day Rolly Gassmann estate was created in 1967 when Marie-Thérèse Rolly married Louis Gassmann. Their son Pierre has run the estate since 1997 -which was the same year they began their conversion to biodynamic farming. The estate has no Grand Cru holdings but produces several wines from lieu-dit vineyards, many of which are located in the village of Rorschwihr.

Brief Description of Style / Vinification Techniques

Fermentation begins using indigenous yeasts and lasts four to 10 months. The fruit from each vineyard is vinified separately, and maturation lasts up to one year. Wines are released only when the winery feels they have aged appropriately in bottle.
