Summary

Domaine Charvin is currently run by sixth generation Laurent Charvin. Just over eight hectares of vineyards belong to the domaine, and they’re spread throughout the northwestern portion of the appellation in the lieux-dits Maucoil, L’Arnesque and Cabrières. Historically, the family’s grapes were sold to négociants, and their first estate-bottling wasn’t until 1951 – which was only a small portion of their full production and intended for private consumption. When Laurent Charvin took over in 1990, the estate began selling its estate-bottlings, and production under the estate label has gradually increased since. The vineyards were certified agriculture biologique in 2014.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Winemaking is extremely traditional, and Laurent seeks to make wines with balance and freshness. Grapes are fermented whole-cluster and aged 21 months in cement tanks. No oak is used.
