Summary

Tito Constanti was a Sienese count, lawyer and one of the first winemakers (alongside Clemente Santi) to label his wines as Brunello around 1865. But it wasn’t until the mid 1960s that the wines of Conti Constanti were made available to the public, when the estate was passed down to Emilio Constanti. Having done much to market and publicize the wines throughout Italy, Emilio (with no known heir) tracked down the only living descendent of the Constanti family: Andrea Constanti, a geology student at the University of Siena. Andrea took over in 1983 and has since led the estate with help from winemaker Vittorio Fiore. Andrea is known for his particular interest in his vineyards’ soil composition and vine age.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Harvest occurs in early October. Fermentation of the juice on the skins takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 14-21 days. Aging in oak (both large, old Slavonian oak casks and barriques for the Brunellos; three-year-old barriques only for the Rosso di Montalcino) and bottle follow per DOCG guidelines.
