Summary
Domaine de Marcoux is owned by the Armeniers, one of the oldest families in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Since 1995 the estate has been run by two sisters, Sophie Estevenin and Catherine Armenier. The vineyards are spread throughout the appellation, and many parcels are planted with extremely old vines; approximately 50% of the production of their regular Châteauneuf is comprised of these old vines. Average yields are low, at around 22 hl/ha.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Marcoux is a semi-modern producer. Grapes are de-stemmed and vinified separately by variety in concrete tanks. Most of the wine is then matured in concrete; a small proportion spends time in small, old barrels.
