Summary

Domaine Diochon has been making their Moulin-à-Vent the same way since 1935. Bernard Diochon succeeded his father in 1967 and worked the vines himself until his retirement in 2007. Bernard has no heirs and appointed Thomas Patenôtre to continue Bernard’s family’s winemaking traditions as their winemaker today.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Grapes are hand-harvested and transferred to temperature-controlled cement tanks. Diochon employs the traditional Beaujolais style of semi-carbonic fermentation using whole clusters and daily remontage. Wines are racked twice towards the end of fermentation followed by aging in oak foudres for six to seven months minimum before bottling. Wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered in the spring following harvest, with minimum sulfur used.
