Summary

Wine industry icons Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr began developing their vineyard site in 2007 with vineyard manager Chris King, finally founding the winery in 2013. The estate, which sits seven miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, has grown to 60 acres from the original 40 and employs biodynamic principles. Sashi, previously a chef in New York, moved to California in 1996 for an apprenticeship at Ojai Vineyards and joined Stolpman Vineyards in 2001. Rajat worked as a sommelier under MS Larry Stone at Rubicon, then opened the original RN74 with Michael Mina and oversaw the company’s wine programs for years. The duo also owns the nearby négociant label Sandhi, as well as Evening Lands in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Sashi Moorman and Rajat Parr were both deeply influenced by Burgundy. Their philosophy has always been “add nothing; take nothing away.” They began transitioning the estate to biodynamics in 2017. Fermentations are native, whole clusters are used partially or completely, and new oak and alcohol levels are tailored to integrate into the wines.
