Summary

The 46-hectare estate surrounds La Pineta, once a farmhouse and now the estate winery. The farm and farmhouse were once part of the Gherardesca family’s extensive landholdings throughout Livorno. In 1870, Count Walfredo della Gherardesca transformed the farmhouse into a fully functioning winery, planting vineyards and olive groves. The estate was acquired by the Fittipaldi Menarini family in 1992, and they planted new vineyards in 2004. In addition to the standard Bordeaux varieties, they planted the rare Orpicchio, a white grape native to Tuscany, used to produce a single-varietal wine called Lady F since 2015. The Donne, Maria Fittipaldi Menarini, runs the estate with her four daughters.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Wines are fermented primarily in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. All varieties are kept separate throughout the aging process, and after blending, the wines settle for a month before bottling. Red wines are aged in a mix of new and used French barriques.
