Summary
Jason Drew got his start in Napa Valley when he helped plant a vineyard with his uncle. Bitten by the wine bug, he went on to complete studies at UC Santa Cruz and the University of Adelaide. After stints at Joseph Phelps, Luna, and Corison, Jason’s own label came to fruition in 2000 while he was working at Babcock Winery. Shortly after, in 2002, Jason and his wife, Molly, purchased a 26-acre apple orchard in the Mendocino Ridge appellation. They planted seven acres of Pinot Noir, which bore the first estate vintage in 2014. Today, Drew focuses on small-lot production of Pinot Noir and Syrah from Mendocino Ridge and the Anderson Valley.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Drew employs whole-cluster and native fermentations, manual punchdowns, and gravity flow in the cellar. Wines are not fined or filtered. New French oak is used with restraint (rarely over one-third), and alcohol levels generally remain below 13.5%.
