Summary

Pierre-Marie Chermette took over the family estate from his father in 1982. Before Pierre-Marie, wine from the estate had been sold in bulk to brokers. In 1990, Pierre-Marie’s wife Martine came on to develop sales within and outside of France. The couple purchased vines in Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent in the mid-1990s along with additional parcels in Moulin à Vent and Brouilly in 2002 and 2006.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Grapes are hand-harvested, and whole clusters are put into stainless steel tanks for semi-carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts. After two to three days of maceration, the juice from the bottom of the tank is run over the cap. Maceration lasts six to eight days for the general Beaujolais (bottled in the spring) and 10-12 days for Cru wines. The grapes are pressed and age in neutral oak foudres for four to six months. Wines are bottled with only a minimal amount of sulfur.
