Summary
Founder and head winemaker Kevin Mitchell established Kilikanoon in 1997, starting with the original 15 acres of vineyards planted by his father, Mort. Mort continues to assist Kevin in the vineyards today, tending to the winery’s well-known “Mort’s Block” vineyard, which provides the fruit for Kilikanoon’s flagship wines. The winery is known for their “Oracle” Shiraz, first released in 1998. Over the years, through various partnerships, the winery has been able to expand holdings with new vineyard properties in Barossa and McLaren Vale.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Winemaking is described as “minimal intervention,” with no fining or filtering. Oak regimens depend on wine and vintage.
