Summary

The estate’s historical name is Podere Pertimali; labels bear both the Pertimali name and that of Livio Sassetti, who was an original founder of the local Consorzio. Before Livio, at least two generations of the Sassetti family had made wine here. Today, Livio works with his two sons, farming organically and following the lunar cycle. In 1999, the family purchased La Querciolina property in the Montecucco DOC of Maremma; Livio also works with a friend in the Valdobbiadene DOCG to make low-sulfur, extended-lees-contact Prosecco.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Harvest is entirely by hand. Fermentations start spontaneously with native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and last around 15 days with 8-10 daily pump-overs. Aging is in large, old 30-hl Slavonian oak casks. Wines are considered traditional examples of Brunello.
