Summary

Domaine Paul Autard is currently run by Paul’s son, Jean-Paul Autard. Their 26 hectares of vineyards, half of which are located within Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This includes a plot of 90-year-old vines, and the grapes from this vineyard are used for Cuvée la Côte Ronde. Jean-Paul practices culture raisonnée in the vineyard and pesticides or chemical anti-rot products or fertilizers are used. Autard is able to achieve the domaine’s signature power and concentration without a green harvest because the vines average over 50 years of age (they are between 40-96 years old).

Style & Vinification Techniques

The estate’s wines are modern in style. The grapes are de-stemmed and undergo automatic pigeage during fermentation. Wines are aged in small oak barrels that range from new to three years old, depending on the cuvée.
