Summary
The Domaine Pierre Usseglio was established in 1966 after Pierre took over his father’s estate. Pierre’s brother, Raymond, branched out to establish his own domaine at this time as well. Since 1999, Pierre’s sons, Jean-Pierre and Thierry have been in charge of the estate. These two have been responsible for slowly modernizing the winemaking, in addition to purchasing an additional eight hectares of vineyards planted with very old vines – a purchase which enabled the creation of the Deux Frères bottling. The two brothers have also increased production from 6,000 bottles to 20,000 bottles per year.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Wines are 100% de-stemmed before undergoing a three-week-long maceration and fermentation. They are aged in oak foudres of varying ages for 18-24 months.
