Summary
The Roagna estate is currently run by fourth generation, Luca Roagna. For all four generations, the wines have been made in a classic and traditional manner, and are made for long term ageing. They are known to hold back bottles for many years before they are released. The majority of the family’s vineyard holdings are in Barbaresco, at their Pajè estate. They did not acquire vineyard holdings in Barolo until 1989, when they purchased the Rocche and the Pira vineyards in Castiglione Falletto. These two sites are blended together into one Barolo, La Rocca e la Pira.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Roagna makes wine in a very traditional style. The wines undergo lengthy macerations and fermentations in old, oak barrels, followed by ageing for many years in Slavonian oak botti.
