Summary

Toni Jost kept the family vineyard afloat through WWII and the postwar years, so when his son Peter took over in 1975, he kept the estate in his father’s name. The Toni Jost estate was a founding member of the Mittelrhein VDP, joining in 1987; and, because of their inheritance acquisition in 1953, they were also able to join the Rheingau VDP in 1989. The family owns the majority of the Hahn (Grosse Lage) vineyard and is in fact so intertwined with the vineyard that the main building of the estate – as well as their portion of the vineyard – is called Hahnenhof. Peter’s daughter Cecilia recently joined him at the estate and is now taking over operations.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Considered a top quality estate of the Mittelrhein, the Jost family makes a range of styles of Riesling.
