Summary
Although founded recently, in 1990, the Cogno family is currently a fourth generation winemaking family. Prior to 1990, Elvio Cogno was the winemaker for Marcarini in La Morra. They purchased their winery and vineyards in 1990 on a hilltop site in the Bricco Ravera vineyard. Currently, the estate is run by Elvio’s daughter and son-in-law, Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore. Nadia and Valter carry on the family’s tradition of employing long post-fermentation macerations and ageing in large oak botti.
Style & Vinification Techniques
Wines are fermented in temperature control stainless steel with automated pump-overs, followed by a lengthy post-fermentation maceration. The wines age in large, Slavonian oak for 2 years.
