Grapes Varieties

  • Bianco:

    • max. 30% other white grapes approved for production in Calabria
  • Rosato/Rosso:
    • 30-50% combined Gaglioppo, and/or Greco Nero,
    • 30-50% combined Nocera, Calabrese, and/or Castiglione, 
    • max. 10% other other red grapes,
    • max. 15% white grapes approved for production in Calabria.

Minimum Alcohol

  • Bianco: 10.5%
  • Rosato: 11.5%
  • Rosso/Rosso Novello: 12%
  • Rosso Riserva: 12.5%

Minimum Total Acidity

  • 4.5 g/l

Maximum Residual Sugar

  • Rosso Novello: 10 g/l

Aging Requirements

  • Rosato/Rosso: Wines may not be released before January of the year after harvest.
  • Rosso Riserva: Wines must be aged min. 2 years from November 1 of the year of harvest.

Minimum Planting Density

  • 4,000 vines per hectare

Maximum Yields

  • Bianco: 13 tons/ha
  • Rosato/Rosso: 12 tons/ha
