Grapes Varieties

  • Bianco:
    • max. 40% Mantonico,

  • Rosato/Rosso:
    • max. 45% Gaglioppo (aka: Arvino),
    • max. 45% Aglianico,
    • max. 10% combined Greco Nero, and/or Nerello Cappuccio, 
    • max. 45% other black varietals approved for production in Calabria.

Minimum Alcohol

  • Bianco: 10.5%
  • Rosato/Rosato Classico: 11%
  • Rosso/Rosso Classico: 12%
  • Rosso Superiore: 13.5%

Minimum Total Acidity

  • 5 g/l

Aging Requirements

  • Rosso Superiore: Wines must be aged min. 3 years from November 1 of the year of harvest.

Maximum Yields

  • Bianco/Rosato/Rosso/Rosso Superiore: 11 tons/ha
  • Rosato Classico/Rosso Classico: 9 tons/ha
