  • Blanc: min 95% Chenin Blanc, plus a max. 5% Orbois 
  • Vin Mousseux/Pétillant
  • Vouvray wines may use the geographical designation „Val de Loire“ on the label

Assemblage

  • Chenin Blanc must comprise the majority of the blend.

Minimum Potential Alcohol

  • Blanc: 11%
  • Base wines for Vin Mousseux/Pétillant: 9.5%

Minimum Must Weight

  • Blanc: 178 g/l
  • Vin Mousseux/Pétillant: 153 g/l

Residual Sugar

  • Blanc „Sec“: max. 8 g/l (Total acidity must be within 2 g/l of the total residual sugar.)

Sparkling Wine Requirements

  • Traditional Method Secondary Fermentation
  • Wines may not be released until 12 months after the date of tirage.

Minimum Planting Density

  • 6,000 vines per hectare

Maximum Yield (Rendement de Base)

  • Blanc: 52 hl/ha
  • Vin Mousseux/Pétillant: 65 hl/ha
