Summary

Currently operated by the fifth generation, Marcarini has a long history in La Morra, and are well known for being the first producer to designate a single vineyard site on the label. The Brunate cru has been listed on the labels of Marcarini’s Brunate Barolo bottling dating back to 1958. The Dolcetto cru of Boschi di Berri is planted with prephylloxera vines, and at 150 years old, are the oldest known Dolcetto vines in Italy. The Marcarini’s believe their quality originates in the vineyard, and derive high quality grapes from restricting yields and green harvesting.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Marcarini falls somewhere between modern and traditional, though the majority of their vinification techniques are traditional. After a four week long maceration, the wines are aged in medium sized Slavonian oak for 2 years.
