Summary

Giovanna Morgante planted three hectares of grapes on a farm given to her by her father, an enologist, and has followed in his footsteps. Educated in grape genetics, she looks far beyond Sangiovese in her winemaking. Her “Cinque” bottling is made from Sangiovese and four oft-overlooked historical Tuscan varieties. Her top wine, “Le Trame,” was historically labeled as Chianti Classico, but for reasons related to her outlook on the region, she has labeled it as IGT Toscana since 2011.

Style & Vinification Techniques

Morgante employs very traditional techniques. Fermentations take place in large wooden vats, and the wine is then transferred to large- and medium-sized botti for aging. The wines undergo an additional period of bottle aging that lasts approximately six months.
