Episode 353 – Welsh wines with Richard and Joy Morris of Ancre Hill Vineyard
There are 17 producers in total in Wales of which 6 are located in Monmouthshire, bordering England, and the majority are in South Wales in the Vale of Glamorgan. There are a couple of vineyards in North Wales. While much of the wine sold is consumed in Wales or elsewhere in the UK, tourists also visit and purchase wine to take home.

Richard explains how the Welsh vineyards are part of the UK Vineyard Association but plans are afoot to bring together a Welsh trade association. We also talk about the grape varieties being grown in Wales and, as in England, there are more new plantings of the classic Champagne varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and some Pinot Meunier with a focus on production of sparkling wines.
