John also has his own wine consulting firm for wineries throughout the world. John is from Adelaide originally and worked vintages during the holidays at the Petaluma winery before going to university in Wagga Wagga to take a wine making course. His first proper job was at Rutherglen Campbells in 1983 as a winemaker with Colin Campbell, making Muscat. He travelled after that, doing vintages in other regions of Australia and in California. Eventually John set up a wine consultancy and did 6 years in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere as a flying winemaker/contractor. John moved to the UK in 1991 to settle permanently. In 1998 he did his first vintage in the UK at a winery which is now known as Stanlake Park and was consulting to around 30 UK vineyards.
