Episode 383 – Oscar Malek on the Chewton Glen wine list
Chewton Glen is a luxury country house hotel in beautiful grounds. Oscar manages the beverages and wine list of over 1,200 bins of wine from around the world (40 pages worth!). The list is quite French heavy but also Italy, Spain, New World and quirky countries such as Mexico, Uruguay, Japan, China. Price wise there’s lots of choice at £40-£60 per bottle plus plenty of top end, iconic wines.

At the time of this interview Pinot Noir very popular, Tuscan reds, more Pinot Gris, Viognier and Riesling as well as the ever popular Sauvignon Blanc. Austrian wines – Gruner Veltliner and Dry Rieslings are going well. We also discuss stock rotation, decanting wines, serving wines and the glassware.
